Merv (Mary)

A city haunted by its own history. Once a major oasis hub, it was destroyed by Mongol forces and rebuilt as a smaller settlement. The ruins still draw those seeking lost knowledge.

Historical Basis

Margiana – Major oasis city destroyed by Jochi Khan (son of Genghis Khan). Eventually rebuilt as the smaller settlement of Mary, never regaining former importance.

Current State

• Partially Rebuilt – Mary village exists but is shadow of former city
• Ruins Prominent – Ancient structures still visible in landscape
• Refuge for Survivors – Those rebuilding from the ashes
