A drainage ravine off the Samarqandh-Bukhara road, near Kattakurgan — refugee camp site, Session 0 Warrior awakening.
A cut in the valley wall a few kilometers south of the road near Kattakurgan — steep-sided, dry most of the year, deep enough to hide thirty people and their fires from anyone not already looking for them. Refugees fleeing a destroyed town sheltered here, close enough to the royal road that a passing caravan — the same one running Samarqandh to Bukhara — was the only realistic way out.
The town they fled is never named or precisely placed; only a smear of smoke on the horizon, roughly a day's walk off. Whatever it was, it isn't marked on any map that survived.
